Joe DeLong M.A., LLPC
Client Focus:
Life can become complicated for everyone from time to time. Each of us is born into a set of unique circumstances and challenges. Mental health struggles are easier to get through with a trusted person to talk to and reflect with, from week to week. I offer a safe space where people can come and be vulnerable in order to do the work to get to the root cause of their troubles. The approach I take with my clients is person-centered and collaborative, I believe in change through action.
Joe is a limited licensed mental health counselor. He earned his masters degree from Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies in Minnesota. He gained clinical addiction outpatient experience working at Sanford Behavioral Health. Later, at Counseling Center of West Michigan, he worked for over three years in private practice with numerous individuals, families, and couples to help them overcome struggles with addiction, anxiety, depression, ADHD, marital issues, men’s issues, borderline personality disorder and bi-polar disorder. Utilizing a person-centered model of care in combination with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Joe has experience in supervised clinical settings and continues to grow his private practice.
Joe loves cycling and plans to join the Grand Rapids Cycling Club this summer. He also enjoys snow skiing, hiking, writing, and making abstract art, in his free time. Joe has been a big believer in global travel for most of his life, finding that seeing the world is imperative in opening oneself up to new cultures and ways of thinking.
